Like Huang, I often find myself battling paranoia about the future of our business. Whether it’s dealing with a disgruntled client or discovering that something crucial has gone wrong, these moments can feel overwhelming.
Balancing Paranoia with Reality
However, it’s important to remember that things are rarely as dire as they seem. For instance, after a challenging day, reviewing our monthly reports often reveals that we’ve achieved record sales or reached significant milestones. This balance between healthy paranoia and reality is crucial for long-term success.
The Importance of Humility and Integrity in Business
A thought that frequently crosses my mind is, “Bridger, you’re just a few bad decisions away from losing your business, marriage, or home.” This humbling perspective reminds me that while we may have a strong business today, maintaining a good reputation is critical—it takes years to build and only minutes to destroy.
To safeguard your business and personal life, it’s essential to become a person of honesty, fairness, and kindness. These qualities may not come naturally, but they can be developed with conscious effort over time. Define the type of person you aspire to be and work diligently towards that goal.
My Advice to Entrepreneurs: Embrace Healthy Paranoia
Here’s my brutally honest advice for entrepreneurs: It’s okay to be a little paranoid. In fact, it might even be healthy! Stay grateful for what you have and seize the opportunities that come your way with both hands.
