How’s it going, everyone? Today, we’re hitting some highlights of the interview between Lincoln Archibald and Bryce Sutton from Summit Global Investments about looking ahead!
Summit Global Investments, LLC is an SEC registered investment advisor founded in 2010.
Their focus is on providing a solution to investors that complements the array of higher beta strategies, indexed products and ETF’s in the market place that invest into U.S., Global and Small-Cap equities (See LinkedIn).
The Origin of Summit Global Investments
Lincoln: Let’s hear the elevator pitch on Summit Global!
Bryce: We are an RIA in Utah, and we manage $2 billion across a variety of different funds. My partner and I started talking about this business idea in 2007. The markets were going down, and Dave started telling me about his investment thesis ideas. At the time, I was working at India’s largest investment bank in California, so I knew that this idea was different from the others.
Very soon in 2008, we realized that we both had skills in money management, even during financial crisis’s, so we decided to start Summit.
Product Stack
Lincoln: Walk me through your product stack
Bryce: Our strategy encompasses a holistic approach to portfolio management. We diversify investments across small-cap, mid-cap, large-cap stocks, fixed-income securities, and alternative investments to cater to our clients’ varied needs and objectives.
What the clients invest in depends on their needs: institutional investors may need to follow a large-cap growth strategy, while individuals might just want to make it to retirement. We have several different kinds of funds, including 7 different mutual funds, we work with individuals, and we also work with outside investment advisory services.
Lincoln: What kind of investors do you serve? Do you know the percentages?
Bryce: About 25% of them are institutional investors, 35% of them are outside investment advisors and their clients, 25% of our own high net worth individuals, and the remainder is our own clientel base (corporations, businesses, etc.)
Looking Ahead
Later in the interview…
Lincoln: You mentioned that you like to stay up to date; which sources do you use?
Bryce: We have 6 Bloomberg terminals at work which are a wealth of information, and I also read the Wall Street Journal regularly and listen to business podcasts. It’s important to keep up on this stuff because markets are driven by a few things: earnings, geopolitical issues, Congress, and the Fed.
