What’s up, everyone? Today, I want to dive into the emotional aspects of the business world—something I’ve discussed in depth on my podcast, “Bullish.”
Kevin Hart recently said,
“Life has a game-like mentality to it.”
The more successful people I meet, the more I realize they treat life like a game. There are moves, countermoves, strategies, positioning, and many more similarities.
Embracing the Ups and Downs
When I started my first business, I experienced my share of ups and downs—honestly, mostly downs. But I distinctly remember the thrill of a successful weekend, and it hit me: the failures made the successes that much sweeter. That’s when I began to truly enjoy the business game.
But here’s the thing—most people don’t even realize that life is a game. They get caught up in the day-to-day grind without recognizing the bigger picture.
Rule #1: Finding Humor in Challenging Times
Although social media often portrays a polished version of reality, this past year has been tough on both my business and my family. Yet, somehow, I’ve been able to come home to my wife at night, share the crazy things that happened during the day, and just laugh about it.
When you can look chaos or uncertainty in the face and remain optimistic, you’ll eventually start winning the game of life. Humor is a powerful tool—it helps you maintain perspective and resilience.
Rule #2: Keeping My Integrity
Integrity is one of the core values at Fund Launch. My employees, partners, and I can sleep well at night knowing that we’re treating our clients right and doing good in the world.
Even when sales are down and the economy is tough, I rest easy knowing we’re not compromising our values just to get ahead. We’re focused on treating our clients and the world around us with respect and fairness.
Rule #3: Identifying My Goal
What’s the first thing you want to know when learning how to play a game? The objective. The goal. The purpose.
The same applies to life. You can’t be successful without something to work towards. For me, my life’s objective is religious in nature: “To Become like God.” I believe we’re all God’s children, put on this earth to learn and become more like Him.
Now, you might not share the same beliefs, and that’s okay! The important thing is that you identify your goal, objective, or purpose and work towards fulfilling it.
Life Is Earth-School
I believe we’re all in the middle of earth-school, here to learn and grow. And the truth is, we can only learn by doing hard things. The great thing about life is that there’s not just one way to win the game. There are countless routes that can lead you to your idea of success—you’re the one who gets to choose your path.
Whatever your goals are, self-development is likely a part of achieving them. So, don’t get frustrated when hard things happen; those are the times that shape you the most.
Conclusion: Playing the Game with Heart and Strategy
Hopefully, you’ve gained some insights into the emotions of the business game and life. Remember, it’s all about finding humor in tough times, maintaining your integrity, and identifying your goals. These principles can guide you not just in business, but in all areas of life.
