Warren Buffett, the greatest investor of all time, was born in 1930 during the Great Depression.
His father was a congressman and stockbroker, which initially introduced him to the finance world.
Warren was a natural at mathematics – he could do most calculations in his head!
Early Investor & Entrepreneur
This all led to him making his first investment at 11 years old; he bought 3 shares of City Service Preferred for $114!
Even though his stocks dropped initially, he eventually sold his 3 shares for $600.
Warren started 2 businesses at age 13 and ended up filing taxes that year! He did get to write off his bicycle as a tax deduction, though!
In high school, Warren sold his pinball machine business for $1200, which is today’s equivalent of $20,000!
He completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics.
Entering the Fund World
While attending Columbia University, he studied under Benjamin Graham, who was known as the “father of value investing.”
Then at the age 26, Warren launched his first fund, Buffet Partnership LTD!
He raised $105,000 from family and friends and ran his fund, finding deals in undervalued assets.
Just 6 years later, he became a millionaire.
